The Problem
Campus life at IIT Bhilai involved separate systems for everything — paper attendance, cash-based mess payments, manual library logs, and event registrations through Google Forms. Students carried multiple cards and credentials. Administrative staff spent hours reconciling data across disconnected systems.
The Approach
Unified everything under one smart ID card with NFC. A single tap handles mess entry, library check-out, attendance marking, campus store payments, and event access. The backend consolidates all data into one student profile with real-time dashboards for administrators. Students see their transactions, attendance, and balances in a clean mobile interface.
How it was built
Surveyed every touchpoint on campus where students interact with a system — mess, library, labs, events, admin office — and mapped the data flow.
Designed the NFC-based card system with read/write capabilities for offline fallback when network is unavailable.
Built the unified backend — a single student record that aggregates attendance, financial transactions, library activity, and event participation.
Developed the admin dashboard for real-time campus analytics — mess utilization, library traffic, attendance patterns.
Rolled out in phases — mess first, then library, then attendance — to minimize disruption.
